Resume Review (ML/Software), Career Advice, Referral - Uber, Lyft, MSFT, Apple, Snap
I was able to secure interviews with FB/Google for Software Engineer positions through referrals but postponed them to prepare better. I got interviews/initial contact for Amazon/Microsoft/LinkedIn through Linkedin. But it didn't workout for the following reasons:
LinkedIn: This was the very first phone interview and I was very nervous and bombed it.
Microsoft: Talked to a team and they thought my background might not be a fit for their team.
Amazon: Coded 2 working solutions but couldn't come up with an optimal solution. Plus I jumped right in to coding without asking questions (which was the most probable cause for rejection).
Currently I'm doing Elements of Programming Interview's (EPI) 1-month plan. I switched to CS a couple of years ago and got hooked - finished 50% Bachelors with a 3.9 GPA and currently working on my Masters with a Machine Learning Specialization(both while working). My goal is to work for a big tech company where I can work on Distributed Systems and learn a lot.
Clearly, I was able to get my foot past the initial door. But lately, I feel like i'm missing something that's very obvious. I'd really appreciate if someone can look at my resume and provide me referrals/advice that will help me get in to a FAANG/big-tech company. Thanks a lot!
